Poets Walk: "you will see them"

The Dead by Philip Schultz
There are so many already. Probably
more than enough. Turn down any street
and you will see them just standing there,
waiting to be recognized. They don’t mingle,
or talk. There’s no news or gossip or luck.
Nothing to get used to. Or risk. Or give up.
They don’t explore new neighborhoods
or notice much, preferring their own company.
They no longer have family or friends so no one
notices how little they’ve changed. You’ll find
who you’re looking for dreaming at a window,
waiting to be remembered. Anyone will do.
