Poet's Walk: "curve of light"

Skin by John A. Williams
In a certain curve of light,
south, swollen with heat,
I cup my hands above my eyes
and these slide out along my hand.
There, caught in the cupping, my
skin sighs iridescent secrets;
green glazed with gold; reds
unnuanced, blazes of brightness
that would be brighter still were
I blacker and could raise up ranges
of blue. I stare. I am amazed and
I am calm with my beauty. I
return to my book.
