Description: Sgraffiato Ware Vessel

The decorative treatment and large size of this pottery vessel indicate that it served as a ritual or display piece, not as an actual drinking vessel. On the inside, the large symbols and inscriptions in Arabic help date it to the Mamluk period of Islamic rule in Egypt.
