David Hockney is an English painter, printmaker, and photographer famous for his contributions to the Pop Art movement in the 1960s. He currently holds the world record for highest sale price of a work of art by a living artist. He is best known for his paintings of swimming pools as well as his many paintings of vibrant and bright landscapes. In the early 1960s the artist traveled to Southern California and Arizona and fell in love with the landscapes which were drastically different from his native environment. This led to the artist doing a full series of works of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim.
